ARTIST STATEMENT

 

I am initially inspired to paint a subject because of the energy, the exhibited emotion or the "story" that I intuitively perceive from the subject.  My work aspires to retell this initial attraction while also reflecting the yin/yang of opposites as demonstrated through the complex pattern and simple design, the light and shadow, and the vibrant color and muted tones that I observe in every day life.
